Celebrating Growth and Learning: September 2024 at Our School
Dear Friends of Helping Hands for India,
As the September breeze carried the first hints of autumn, our school buzzed with the energy of learning and discovery.
From honouring our cherished teachers to understanding our role as guardians of Mother Earth on World Ozone Day, from celebrating the richness of our Hindi heritage to delving into the transformative power of meditation – September unfolded as a tapestry of meaningful experiences. Our principal’s insightful workshop on meditation and behaviour reminded us that true education nurtures not just the mind but the whole being.
We hope you enjoy reading about these precious moments of growth, learning, and community that shaped our September journey.
Teacher's Day 5th September
The air was filled with creativity and gratitude as our students poured their hearts into crafting beautiful greeting cards for Teachers’ Day.
Beyond the colourful expressions of appreciation, this day served as a profound teaching moment.
Our teachers shared the deeper significance of this celebration, guiding students to understand the sacred bond between teacher and student—a relationship that has been revered in Indian culture for millennia.
Through stories and discussions, our children gained insight into how teachers illuminate the path of knowledge and shape the future of our society.
Building self confidence 9th September
In a beautiful demonstration of peer learning, our senior students stepped into the role of teachers for our younger learners.
This innovative confidence-building exercise transformed self-doubt into self-assurance as older students discovered their capacity to share knowledge.
Watching our senior students blossom from hesitant participants into confident guides reminded us that sometimes the best way to learn is to teach.
This experience not only strengthened their self-belief but also fostered a stronger sense of community within our school.
Hindi divas 14th September
Our celebration of Hindi Divas resonated with cultural pride and linguistic heritage.
The day came alive through a vibrant Hindi speech competition where students found their voice in our mother tongue.
Beyond mere participation, this event kindled a deeper appreciation for Hindi’s rich literary traditions and its role in our cultural identity.
Our students’ passionate speeches demonstrated that our mother tongue continues to thrive in the hearts and minds of the next generation.
World Ozone Day 16th September
Though celebrated two days later than the global observance, our World Ozone Day activities sparked crucial environmental awareness. Students engaged in enlightening discussions about our Earth’s protective shield and humanity’s role in its preservation.
Through interactive sessions, we explored the impact of pollution and CFCs on the ozone layer, empowering our students to become conscious environmental stewards.
This knowledge-sharing session emphasized that protecting our planet is not just a governmental responsibility but a collective duty.
World Peace Day 21st September
Embracing Peace and Wisdom (September 21st)
World Peace Day brought special blessings to our school as we welcomed honored guests from the Ashram. Each classroom buzzed with excitement as visitors shared their wisdom and gentle guidance.
The highlight was Guruji’s presence, whose words of wisdom touched young hearts and minds.
These interactions reinforced our commitment to nurturing not just educated students, but compassionate global citizens who understand the value of peace and harmony.
Meditation workshop 26th September
On September 26, 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting a workshop led by our principal focusing on the transformative power of meditation and its impact on behaviour. She shared insightful information about how regular meditation can significantly enhance both mind and body, fostering a more positive outlook on life.
During the session, she emphasized that daily meditation practice can improve concentration, focus, and overall efficiency. Moreover, she highlighted that yoga and meditation serve as effective remedies for managing our increasingly hectic lifestyles and can help stabilize our minds.
Our principal encouraged all students to embrace yoga, noting its benefits in reducing stress and anxiety, while also shifting one’s perspective on the world.
